A new type of event by XTANT.
XTANT’s yearly event is focused on bringing together the worlds’ hundreds of disparate craft traditions into a celebration. But due to that scope, XTANT can only bring the products of these many wonderful communities, typically leaving behind the materials, the food, and environment, both cultural and physical, from which they are forged.
Committed as we are to celebrating the diversity and local character of artisan craft, we at the XTANT Team have longed dreamed of XTANT’s sister event: YATRA. Where, alongside our global gathering bringing the vast world of artisan craft to our community in Mallorca, we could also bring our community to the villages and homes of said artisan craft.
So we are ecstatic to finally announce that YATRA’s first edition, happening just four months before the next XTANT, will be taking place in Bhuj, Kutch, India. In which a broad selection of the region’s rich and extremely varied textile and artisan traditions will be arranged by and among the people and land which made them. Collaborating also with many artisans from the XTANT community overseas.
