XTANT in Mallorca is a global gathering of all the wonderfully different strands of textiles and artisan craft. A ‘best of’ collection of all which we can get a hold of carefully arranged for the world to see. But while it can bring pieces of those worlds to people who’d otherwise never see them, it can’t capture their full complexity.
Artisan craft is defined by the labour, the materials, the history, and culture that come together in its production; it stands apart from industry because of its uniqueness and personal character. While it's easy to carry the products and marvel at their craftsmanship a thousand miles away, have the tactile experience; the connection to the producers, to the land, the flora, the villages, the cultural signifiers, and the food — these things which are integral to the craft process — cannot travel on a plane.
But, we can travel to them.
XTANT draws a fair share of visitors from across the globe looking to browse through and be inspired by these windows into the many artisan and craft cultures of our world, for YATRA we wanted to give our community the opportunity to delve deep and experience their worlds for themselves.

XTANT draws a fair share of visitors from across the globe looking to browse through and be inspired by these windows into the many artisan and craft cultures of our world, for YATRA we wanted to give our community the opportunity to delve deep and experience their worlds for themselves.
EARLY BIRD EVENT PASS
For Yatra 2027 we did not want to make of Bhujodi a mere pretty background to an international event. Almost immediately we wanted the events scale to remain intimate enough for genuine encounters to happen, for the community to remain centred, and so that those journeying from afar could immerse themselves in its community.
Thus we are offering this limited EARLY BIRD EVENT PASS for YATRA on a first come first serve basis at a reduced price.

For Yatra 2027 we did not want to make Bhujodi a mere pretty background to an international event. Almost immediately we wanted the events scale to remain intimate enough for genuine encounters to happen, for the community to remain centred, and so that those journeying from afar could immerse themselves in its community.
For those who would like to join us, we recommend you grab yours now.
For our first destination, Bhujodi, in Kutch, India the event will be co-hosted by Shamji Vankar Siju in the village of the master weaving Vankar community.
Reflecting the dense tapestry of crafts, embroidery, printing, and weaving traditions of Kutch, 25 local artists, artisans and craft families will come together with another 25 Artists from our own XTANT community to transform the village for the week, and develop in pairs a series of collections, artworks, installations, or any other kind of project.
Unveiled alongside the event floor, each collaboration will explore the living world of craft in bhujoudi, and Kutch in general, taking aspects from its grand history, and the cultural memory it has left, to its present reality and aspirations for the decades to come.
At Yatra’s event floor itself will be a series of curated exhibitions, demonstrations, performances, talks, cultural experiences, and the work of the artisan groups all meticulously arranged for its market.
Bhujodi
VANKAR VISHRAM VALJI (VVV) in Bhuj.
Approximately 8 km southeast of Bhuj in Kutch, the easiest way to reach Bhujodi is flying into Bhuj Airport (BHJ), which has connecting flights from cities like New Delhi, Mumbai or Ahmedabad, all of which have international airports, and connect onward to Bhuj.
Alternatively, Bhuj is directly connected to Ahmedabad by train, with several services operating on the route; though please note that the fastest trains take around 6 hours. From Bhuj, Bhujodi village is about a 15–20 minute taxi or auto-rickshaw ride. Bhuj is also well connected by road to Ahmedabad and other cities in Gujarat.
