“Sabrina Stadlober is a fashion, textile, and product designer based in Austria. Her work is defined by a conceptual, research-led approach that brings ethics and aesthetics into dialogue.

Sabrina’s practice spans textiles and wearable design, with a focus on natural materials and responsible craft as forms of creative expression. With the same patience applied to farming and fiber processing, she crafts textiles and garments through hand-weaving, needle-felting, and embellishment.

She earned her Master’s degree in Textiles from Polimoda, completing the From Farm to Fabric to Fashion program under the mentorship of Lidewij Edelkoort and Philip Fimmano. During her studies, Sabrina developed a deep appreciation for natural fibers—particularly alpaca wool, linen, and silk.

Her graduation project, Soil to Soil, is a fully circular couture collection. Just as fabric can swaddle an infant and accompany us throughout life, each design symbolizes birth, growth, aging, and the passage of time. They highlight the transience of human existence, as well as of their materials and clothing. By keeping all artifacts completely natural, they can be passed on or returned to the ground to become soil, plant, fiber, and garment again. In this concept, death is not an end but a new beginning — a source of fertility and life.

Soil to Soil will be displayed at XTANT. It was shortlisted for the Dorothy Waxman Prize 2024 and presented at the World Wool Forum in 2025.
In addition to developing her own slow collections, Sabrina teaches at Modeschule Graz, where she began her fashion education at the age of fourteen.”
