Dinesh Vishram Siju - INDIA

“Dinesh grew up in his family’s legacy of handloom weaving and joined the weaving work at very young age. He was trained by his father and elder brothers. As a weaver, Dinesh’s textile are recognized for their interpretative style that combines traditional motifs with contemporary design woven in fine cotton, silk and wool yarns including desi wool. He experiments with colour, texture, design and high skilled techniques because he believes that Kutch weavers have the opportunity to weave with creativity and experimentation. This is where his joy lies.

Most of the youth in present time have an inclination towards job and service sector. Dinesh being bright graduate of arts could have opted for job in government or private sector. But he preferred to join the family tradition. He became master dyers of yarn dyeing using his own dyeing vats. His expertise grew with his ability and now the family has more than 12 vats at their dyeing unit. He is imparting dyeing skills to the weavers, design students and designers visiting his unit on daily basis.

His efforts provided direction to other young artisans to carry forward their family occupation with pride. He also served at trainer to various young designers from design institutions like NID (National Institute of Design), NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology) etc. who frequently visit his unit for exposure, research etc.”
