Caterina Roppo - ITALY

Caterina Roppo is an artist and art director trained in Florence, currently living and working between Milan and Majorca. She developed an early fascination for studying textiles, which inspired her to delve into textile manipulation and material interpolation. Her expertise in fibers and their structures has fostered a long and successful collaboration with Milano Unica, where she led the research department, working closely with companies, laboratories, and artists to innovate materials.

Her work is grounded in the study of new forms through perspective, the construction of Jacquard floats, and three-dimensionality. The "trayma" project emerged from a traumatic event in the artist's life, leading to severe post-traumatic stress disorder. This marked the beginning of an extensive exploration of the "wounds" found in natural and architectural environments, probing their contours and perspectives to create an aesthetic synergy that blends visual reality with the subconscious world.

As a multimedia artist, Caterina explores both the digital and physical universe, using yarn as a symbol of connection between these two realities. Her physical works are characterized by the Jacquard technique, where skillful use of float yarn allows her to create true three-dimensional textile sculptures.
