Clara Vignal / Fluff Knitwear - SPAIN

“Clara Vignal is the founder of Fluff Knitwear, a project rooted in a commitment to revive the wool industry, recognising its importance for both the land and the people connected to it.

Her trajectory in textiles is shaped by hands-on work and a deep involvement with process. Through XTANT, she was part of a group of five who came together around a shared urgency to recover a series of abandoned mechanical looms. What began as a bold and uncertain initiative became a collective effort to restore them and give them a second life.

Those looms were later donated to Sonmo, where she went on to direct the textile department. There, she oversaw the transformation of the estate’s sheep’s wool into yarn, used to produce blankets and rugs on the very looms that had been brought back into use.

Through Fluff Knitwear, her work continues this thread, moving between making and sourcing, creating small-scale knitwear in natural fibres alongside a considered selection of pre-loved pieces, with the aim of keeping quality garments in use for longer.

Alongside this, she teaches knitting workshops, using the act of making as a way to pass on skills and to bring people into direct contact with wool.
